Dialect lines

The dialect lines of the map cards, their sources and licenses · 99 districts

The dialect lines on the map cards are taken word for word from dictionaries: the dialect sentence and its Standard German line are the dictionary's own text, and the Turkish and English lines are our translations. The lines of Bavaria come from Bayerns Dialekte Online (© Bayerische Akademie der Wissenschaften) and are shared under their source's license: the lines of the Fränkisches Wörterbuch and of Bavarian Swabia under CC BY 4.0, those of the Bayerisches Wörterbuch under CC BY-SA 4.0, and each translation under the license of its line. The Swabian lines of Baden-Württemberg come from Hermann Fischer's Schwäbisches Wörterbuch (1904–1936), read from the scans of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek; they are in the public domain (Public Domain Mark 1.0), and we dedicate their translations to it (CC0 1.0). The Low German lines of Schleswig-Holstein come from Otto Mensing's Schleswig-Holsteinisches Wörterbuch (1927–1935), read from the scans of the Kiel University Library; they are in the public domain (Public Domain Mark 1.0), and we dedicate their translations to it (CC0 1.0). Anyone may use the lines on this page and their translations under the terms of their licenses.
